New analysis, requested by the Greens/EFA Group within the European Parliament, reveals a strong correlation between the obstructionist attitudes of key automotive manufacturers toward EU NOx policy and the position of the member states that they manufacture in. The European Parliament against on Feb 4th a motion to reject what is considered a rushed and compromised European Commission October 2015 response to the VW scandal. Our analysis found that the industry associations ACEA (Europe-wide) and the VDA (Germany) along with auto-makers Daimler and Ford to be the most opposed to progressive European NOx policy while Member States the United Kingdom and Spain similarly have blocked NOx motions proposed by the Commission in the last few years.
