During the G20 meeting in Rio de Janeiro, held in parallel with COP29 in Baku, the Global Initiative for Climate Change Information Integrity was launched—a partnership among the United Nations, UNESCO, UNFCCC, the Government of Brazil, and several other countries. The launch marked the consolidation of trust in information as the foundation for effective policies and social mobilization capable of addressing the climate crisis.
At this event at COP30 in Belém—hosted by WWF Brazil, FALA - Impact Studio, and the Network of Partners for Climate Change Information Integrity (RPIIC)—speakers will assess progress on addressing climate misinformation and discuss next steps to solidify the topic within public and political debate. The session will reaffirm that defending the integrity of climate and environmental information also means strengthening democracy as a space of trust, transparency, and collective action. The event will be livestreamed here.
InfluenceMap's Executive Director, Dylan Tanner, will join a panel of experts from the United Nations, Brazil's Secretariat of Social Communication (SECOM), FALA, and Climate Action Against Disinformation to discuss the importance of information integrity and how to tackle climate misinformation at a global scale.
