Carbon Majors: Holding Polluters Accountable

An InfluenceMap Webinar

The Carbon Majors Platform, operated by global think tank InfluenceMap since 2024, hosts historical production data from 180 of the world’s largest oil, gas, coal, and cement producers, covering 69% of global fossil fuel and cement CO2 emissions since the start of the Industrial Revolution. The platform can be accessed at CarbonMajors.org.

About The Webinar

In this webinar, experts from InfluenceMap, the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, and the Center for Biological Diversity will discuss new findings from the Carbon Majors data and how it can support global efforts to hold companies accountable for climate change by quantifying their contributions to worsening climate disaster.

Speakers

  • InfluenceMap’s Emmett Connaire will share key findings from InfluenceMap’s recent update to the Carbon Majors database, highlighting new findings and trends since the last update in 2024.
  • Tzeporah Berman, Chair of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, will highlight how Carbon Majors has provided backing for campaigns against the fossil fuel industry, scientific articles attributing blame for climate disaster, and lawsuits against large companies.
  • Last, Maggie Coulter, Senior Attorney at the Center for Biological Diversity’s Climate Law Institute, will explore how the database is supporting Climate Superfund legislation in the US, including California’s Polluters Pay Climate Superfund Act currently up for debate in the state’s legislature.
  • We will conclude with a panel discussion and audience Q&A moderated by Daan Van Acker, Director at InfluenceMap. Audience members will be invited to submit their comments and questions for an interactive discussion.
