This invitation-only, private roundtable will take place during London Climate Action Week. Hosted by InfluenceMap, in partnership with Climate Action Against Disinformation, the session will bring together companies and industry associations across the electrification and clean tech value chains, alongside experts in disinformation, strategic communications, and policy.
The discussion will explore how misleading narratives and disinformation are affecting public and policymaker support for clean technologies including renewables, heat pumps, and electric vehicles, and what a more coordinated response across sectors could look like, exploring policy and communication-based options.
Disinformation and misleading narratives are becoming a more significant barrier to the uptake of critical clean technologies. They are shaping public perceptions, influencing policymaker decision-making, and creating real commercial and policy risks across the transition.
From electric vehicles to heat pumps and wind energy, misleading claims are increasingly affecting consumer demand, delaying enabling regulation, weakening political support, and undermining confidence in the transition. While these challenges are often shared across sectors, responses remain fragmented and too often reactive.
This roundtable will provide a space to compare experiences across sectors, identify common risks, and explore emerging solutions. We will also explore whether stronger coordination could help protect and strengthen support for climate solutions.
The roundtable will convene a small group of invited participants, including:

This event is hosted by InfluenceMap, in partnership with Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD). InfluenceMap’s work through LobbyMap has helped build understanding of how misleading narratives shape climate and energy debates, while CAAD brings together a global network of organizations working to strengthen responses to climate misinformation and disinformation, including as an advisory member to the Global Initiative for Information Integrity on Climate, working closely with the UN, UNESCO, and the Government of Brazil, to advance its mandate.
