Date: April 8 Thursday
Time: 16:00 – 18:00 (JST) / 08:00 – 10:00 (BST)
Format: Zoom Webinar with simultaneous translation for Japanese-English
Cost: Free
Hosts: Japan Energy Transition Initiative (JETI)
Audience: Targeting business, finance, think tank/research, media, and policy leaders active on investor stewardship-related issues.
This online conference series is a gathering of senior leaders from business, finance, policymaking and think tanks to discuss issues and solutions towards driving innovation in policy towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions. A particular focus will be on greater multi-stakeholder participation in climate change solutions in Japan. A desired outcome is that the conference will trigger new partnerships and practical ideas around climate policy innovation among stakeholders from business, finance, research, and policymakers. Participation will be free of charge but limited to individuals active in driving solutions and innovation in their fields (business, finance, think tanks/research, policy makers).
A key global trend in finance is the prioritization of climate change as a major systemic risk. Data shows many companies held in global portfolios (oil/gas, power, automotive) remain misaligned with Paris climate goals given their current activities and investment plans. More forceful stewardship by shareholders is likely needed. The Climate Action 100+ process is a central part of this trend.
This webinar presents thought leaders and practitioners on the topic of investor stewardship of companies around climate change. Moderated by the CA100 representative at PRI Japan, you will hear from leading Japanese (SMT AM) and overseas (LGIM) asset managers, Japan's regulator the FSA, and Colin Melvin, a thought leader on stewardship and former CEO of Hermes EOS (UK). The webinar will discuss global trends on climate stewardship, key Japanese developments, and how the Climate Action 100+ process is driving positive change. This will be of interest to finance professionals, corporate executives, policymakers and the media.
